| Heinl, Sr. made 148 instruments, mostly patterend after the stradivarius, Guarnarius, and Guadagnini models. In 1944 Heinl passed control of the Company to his sons George born in Ottawa 1923 and Frank born in Toronto 1928. Both sons had been apprenticed as violin makers, but only Frank made instruments professionally.
Frank has made many copies of old Italian master violins and some of these have been slightly 'antiqued' in the varnishing.
